Course Description: This course is designed for the candidate to define, evaluate, analyze and synthesize aspects of  holistic living. Candidates will explore theory and research practices pertaining to therapies recommended to treat one’s overall physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional well being.

 

 

Oral Presentation:

Candidates are expected to conduct research on best practices related to holistic therapy. Candidates will provide references and current research to support their findings.

Rubrics for Evaluation of Assignments:

 

Written Assignments

 

All reports will be graded utilizing the following scores.

 

A= A report that is directly relevant with good organization, sharp sense of beginning and end; supporting details specific to subject; all grammar and spelling are correct; vocabulary varies, word processed or typed, clean and neatly bound in a report cover, illustrations provided, number of requested pages and the report is presented on time.

 

B= A somewhat relevant report; organized, some details are non-supporting to the subject, only one or two errors; vocabulary is varied, supporting details need work; word processed or typed, clean and neatly bound in a report cover, illustrations provided; number of requested pages and one day late.

 

C= A report is remotely related; some organization, events jump around the start and end are vague; details are somewhat sketchy; more than two errors; vocabulary is constant; print too small or too late, paper stapled; number of requested pages and two days late.

 

D= A report is unrealistically related, not organized, events make no sense; unable to find specific details, very frequent grammar and/or spelling errors; needs descriptive works; word processed or typed, less than number of requested pages and three days late.

 

 

Oral Presentation

 

 

All oral presentations will be graded utilizing the following scores:

A = The speaker is informed when speaking (without reference to notes) about materials and provides a variety of types of content appropriate for the task such as generalizations, details, examples and various forms of evidence; the speaker adapts the content in a specific knowledge and experience of the listener and adds explanations as necessary and refers to the listeners’s experience. The speaker uses arguments which are adapted to the values and motivations of the specific listener.

B= The speaker is informed when speaking about material while referencing notes and provides enough content to meet the requirements of the task. The speaker focuses primarily on relevant content and keeps to the topic; the speaker adapts the content in a general way to the listener and the situation and uses words and concepts which are appropriate for the knowledge and experience of the audience. The speaker uses arguments which are adapted to a general public.

C = The speaker is unable to accurately discuss information related to topic and does not provide enough content to meet the requirements of the tasks. The speaker includes some irrelevant content and wanders off the topic. The speaker adapts poorly to the listener and situation. The speaker uses words and concepts which are inappropriate for the knowledge and experiences of the listener such as slang, jargon, technical language.

D = The speaker says practically nothing; focuses primarily on irrelevant content and the speaker is highly egocentric. The speaker appears to ignore the listener and the situation.
